THE RIDE / STAGES
The ride is made up of 4 individual stages linked together into one giant loop of approximately 42km. The stages are of unequal distance and different terrain.
Stage 1(15km) - it’s a straight road all the way to CP 1 with a wider road to ride on until you reach the last 1km where rider will face a 85 meters hill before you get your first sticker. Riders are advised to pace themselves well for Stage 2 (10km) where you’ll put your ‘warmed up’ muscles to good use. The route consists of few normal technical sections with a 65 meters hill (Bukit Busuk). Stage 3 (8km) is where the real challenge begins for all riders. It differentiates and shows the different between beginner or the professional. This stage consist of 2 hills at 185 meters and 215 meters each where the first hills have a very steeps downhill and the second hills have a single track downhill. Riders could
enjoy the beautiful scenery on both hills and take some time to capture some nice photo for memory purposes except for those who are the challenger.
Stage 4 (7km) is slightly harder than Stage 2 with a 120 meters hills.
CHICKEN ROUTE
An escape route called the Chicken Route is available for riders to bail out at the end of Stage 1 & 2. This is advised for those that may not be able to complete the next stage as we’re not going to carry you out from the trails.
Please follow the instruction of the Marshals and direction arrow with picture of a chicken on lamp post.
The Chicken Run distance is different from each Water Point:
WP1 back to Based 13km on road (Self ride back)
(We suggest you ride to WP2)
WP2 back to Based 10km on road (Lorry provided)
WP3 back to Based 10km on road (Lorry provided)
CUT OFF TIME
These are an essential component in this event. They are imposed so that we can safely make sure all riders get back to the Finish Point before 4pm so they give riders enough time to complete the stages and ride the Chicken Run (If necessary). Entrance to the next stage will be stopped at certain times + riders advised to ride the Chicken Run back.
CP1/WP1 - 10:00am
CP2/WP2 - 11:30am
WP3 - 01:00pm
If they insist on carrying on the journey, that would be at their own risk without official support and risk of missing the lucky draw. Please take note that all participants must have the fitness to ride at least 30km, that’s approximately the ride distance if you chicken out after Stage 1.
RIDE MANAGEMENT
All keys turning inside the trails will be marked by our multi directional arrows (RED) and a sign ‘DANGEROUS’ with a SKULL LOGO in a white paper. There will be paper dropped all along the route on the left hand side of the trails along 42KM.
Please slow down at junctions and watch out for these signs. Marshals will be stationed only at critical points to guide riders. There will also be official Sweepers who will move into the trails after the cutoff times for each stage. If you are unsure of the turnings and can’t find the signage, go back to the last trail marker and wait for the Sweepers.
TRAIL ETIQUETTE
Firstly, the route crosses land that does not belong to MCC!! Any other trail user has the right of way. Please ride with caution.
To fellow riders:
You can expect trail congestion during the initial parts of the ride, especially on the narrow single tracks. Stronger riders are advised to come to the front before flag off. If you should stop during a climb, do quickly move to the side of the trail and allow other riders to pass. This will help reduce trail congestion. Do give prior warning when passing a slower rider and only where the trail is wide enough to pass.
Please do not to litter our natural beautiful environment.
CHECKPOINTS/REFILLS
There are 4 checkpoints at the end of each stage. The checkpoints will be clearly marked and manned by Marshals. Riders must present their Passport at each checkpoint to collect the relevant sticker. WP1,. WP2 and WP3 double up as water refilling points for all registered riders. There will also be refreshment and fruits on these 3 stages. However riders are strongly advised to carry 3-litre water packs and food.
LUCKY DRAW
There will be two draws – a General Draw and a Main Draw. To qualify for the General Draw, riders need only to collect the first sticker from Checkpoint 1. The General Draw comprising smaller prizes donated by the co-sponsors shall be conducted at 2.00pm followed by the Main Draw after that. Riders who complete at least 3 stages (3 stickers) will also qualify for the Main Draw which shall comprise big-ticket items contributed by MCC and their sponsors.
SAFETY & FIRST AID
All riders are advised to ride safely and not to take unnecessary risk, especially at the more technical sections. 2 St John’s Ambulance staffs with first aid kits will be on standby at CP 1 and 3. Emergency contact numbers are printed on the Rider Passport. All participants are advised to carry their personal first aid kit and mobile phone and to render assistance to fellow riders in case of any emergency.
CHECK OUT
Upon returning from the ride, all riders are required to check out by presenting their Passport to the Sign Out Desk in order to qualify for the lucky draws. The lower section of the Passport with the lucky draw number will be snipped off.
