TAMPARULI, 20 Dis : Penumpang warga emas Brunei bergelimpangan sementara menunggu bantuan dalam kemalangan bas ekspres warga Brunei, yang berlaku di KM8.9 Jalan Ranau-Tamparuli dekat Kampung Koporingan dekat sini patang tadi. TUARAN, 20 Dis : Jumlah kematian dalam kemalangan bas ekspres yang membawa pelancong Brunei di sini Selasa meningkat kepada enam. Ketua Polis Tuaran DSP Zaharuddin Rasip berkata seorang daripada mangsa mati dalam perjalanan ke Hospital Tuaran, sementara tiga ketika menerima rawatan akibat kecederaaan parah di kepala dan badan.

Dua mati di tempat kemalangan akibat mangsa tersepit dalam bas, kata beliau. Mayat-mayat mangsa dan tujuh yang cedera dihantar ke Hospital Queen Elizabeth di Kota Kinabalu. Kemalangan itu berlaku apabila pemandu bas itu, dipercayai hilang kawalan dan terbalik di selekoh tajam lalu melanggari sebatang pokok besar di KM8.9 Jalan Ranau-Tamparuli dekat Kampung Koporingan pada kira-kira 3.05 petang.

Bas itu membawa 40 pelancong warga Brunei berumur 50 tahun ke atas. Zaharuddin berkata kumpulan itu berada di Sabah sejak 16 Dis. Mereka dijadual pulang ke Brunei esok, kata beliau.
